No To Status Quo!! Weekly Address 7-17-09
President Obama is urging us to stay the course with health reform. The status quo with health reform is not working. Talking is old and we need change now he is siting.
I agree that something needs to be done and it’s going to be big and over a long period of time. It didn’t take us a short period to get into this and it is going to take a long period for you to get to a new ground with health care.
I am sure there are all sorts of changes being proposed and some will make it through and others will not but we must do something to change the course of this river.
There are going to be opponents for everything in life that is a given but what we need to be mindful of is what is the outcome and how is it going to help or hurt. The simple fact is that too many Americans have no health insurance our nation’s obesity percentage goes up at least 15% over the past years.
We are not a healthy nation, we can not build, educate or move to high social-planes if our health is not well. President Obama promises to veto any health reform bill that will increase our deficient.
A few things I found interesting about this weekly address.
1. Some opponents think this health reform is a plot for socialized medicine or government health care. The president stated and feels that government shouldn’t run our health insurance plans and he is strongly against insurance companies having free rein to do whatever they want. There is a middle point here and that is the American people it is about us and for us and we must let our voices be heard.
2. An Insurance Exchange this is interesting….. A one stop marketing place where we can compare benefits, cost and track variety of insurance plans as well as accountability information. Included also is a public option to increase competition with insurance to keep them honest. Now don’t you just love that one putting them (health insurance companies) on the chopping block, lol!
I was glad to hear that the AMA (American Medical Association) and the ANA (American Nurses Association) has supported and backed this health care reform policy.
We can’t just sit by and do nothing anymore time for action, taking new steps to the right, left, up or down we need to step it up to help us become a healthier nation.
