Happy Thanksgiving to all the world!!
As we partake of food, drink and merriment today I am forced to reflect on our boys over abroad fighting in Iraq and other countries for humanity. A friend of mine today is visiting his son who is being deployed to Iraq. Our government wants to send 80,000 more but at present we are sending 40,000 my friend’s son is one of the 40,000. I was told that the young man is getting cold feet. Yeah, I would too going to a foreign country with a gun!
So this is the thought I am left with this Thanksgiving reflecting on those that are going, that are there, and that aren’t coming back. While the President was pardoning the Thanksgiving turkey you realize that life goes on despite troubles in the world.
However in the President’s Thanksgiving speech these words brought out a sense of pride and determination for this country to better itself.
From President Obama ……”The soldier overseas holding down a lonely post and missing his kids. The sailor who left her home to serve a higher calling. The folks who must spend tomorrow apart from their families to work a second job, so they can keep food on the table or send a child to school. We are grateful beyond words for the service and hard work of so many Americans who make our country great through their sacrifice. So when we gather tomorrow, let us also use the occasion to renew our commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous future that every American family can enjoy.”
Yes I am proud to be an American thank you to all the military personnel that keep our liberties at the expense of their own. You are appreciated and loved!!!
