Risk Management=No Management

Weekly Address 12-12-09

Today the President outlines the onward struggles to improve our 10% countries unemployment rate .  This is down 0.2% as the President stated in this weekly address and it is a  slow crawl out of  the quagmire. As some would say at least we are moving forward but for some it isn’t fast enough.  Should we  expect things that have been so wrong for so long to get remedied quickly?

Even though we know  it does require a lot of conversations, planning, reforming and deciding has to be made. Oh and don’t forget those governmental checks and balances.  Meanwhile we are waiting to exhale, mortgages, car notes, insurance premiums, utility bills, groceries still go on taping into our reserves that are null and void. All one can do is the best they can and stay in contact with our governmental officials to keep them aware of our plight in the trenches while our economy is on the way to healing.

Yesterday before listening to this a friend of mine who is unemployed stated that they were denied unemployment even though they received their benefits one week ago. He was told that his account had a zero balance.  I told him something must be wrong as there has been an extension. Well luckily he took my advice and called again. What amazed me is that it tool him all day to handle this being that he wasn’t on the phone all but 10 minutes.

You see the unemployment department has always been a department of tortoise movement and now with more Americans out of work their work has surmounted beyond infinity. Yeah I am exaggerating a bit but that is what it felt like to my friend that had to be placed in a hold que and told that his call would be returned in 4 hours due to the large amount of claims being filed.

Sure enough he did receive a call around 4 hours later 10 minutes before the office was going to close. LOL! I suppose it was better than having to wait another day to get some answers to his plight. He did find out in fact that his benefits had been extended. I thought great for him but what about those that don’t have benefits or theirs aren’t extended or those that haven’t claimed or can’t claim. Geesh,  glad I’m not the President, I am getting gray just thinking about this as I write this post.

In his weekly address he has outline a few Financial Reforms about accountability and responsibility and his forward moving determination to get Americans back to working for the betterment of our economy.  I can hear naysayers out there saying that unemployment is the highest it has been in years. Last time I checked when you clean up you make a mess first right!

I can feel that he is going to broom the trash and take it out so that we will not be subjected to as much of it as we have been over the years. What a task. I do believe this that he will put a big dent in this he is determined to move forward and he knows that we are holding him accountable. You know he goes to bed with that on his mind don’t you know?

So as I listen to this address I am glad to hear that there are things that he is putting in place and I am getting out of the way to let the man do his job so that American can have jobs. This is very hard for many as the way of life we are accustom to is usually champagne taste on a beer budget and we have spent more that what our budgets allow.

So take a listen the his address and feel that he is on our side.  Again we are not going to love and like everything he does but know that there is someone listening to you and trying to actively do something to help. That is all he wants to do is help.
