Risk Management=No Management

Weekly Address 12-12-09

Today the President outlines the onward struggles to improve our 10% countries unemployment rate .  This is down 0.2% as the President stated in this weekly address and it is a  slow crawl out of  the quagmire. As some would say at least we are moving forward but for some it isn’t fast enough.  Should we  expect things that have been so wrong for so long to get remedied quickly?

Weekly Address 10-10-09>

A Consensus

New updates about those Republican figures that have just recently over the weeks have joined in support of the Health Insurance Reform.

As the week narrows down in the Senate before the vote more are coming forward to make process for the American people.

There are some areas of the reform that I don’t like but I have all the confidence in the world that if we don’t like something it will be heard and altered so that all Americans will benefit. We can change our well being excuse the pun.

We are not trying to amend the Constitution which is very very difficult act, laws, and bills can be changed, amended, obliterated. I am not saying that Health Care isn’t as important as the Constitution but what I am saying is that the flexibility of the instrument an act, bill or law  is easier to change.

I know this is not going to solve all problems but it is a start to being able to address those hot buttons and get things moving so that we can move to those other areas where we need to make changes. President Obama knows this as well but we have to crawl before we walk and run. We have not been crawling we have been doing nothing which is a form of politics in itself.

Some of my readers have emailed me to say that they feel this is one of the last few optimistic blogs about President Obama around with all the Barack-bashing going on. I want to thank you all for that but know that this blog venture was about learning about our government and being attentive to what policies our government is trying to do to make good on the statements during his campaign. The best way we can make decisions is to be informed and make our own decisions. We can agree to disagree and keep open minds to the market place of ideas.

There is a lot going on in American that is wrong all you have to do is look outside your door and you will see it. Everything with our Presides,t as has been with Presidents before ,is not going to be as we all like it.

No one can please all but if it helps us in some way to pick ourselves out of what has happened to this country over the past decade I say let’s do it and stop the nonsense.

Yes my hat goes off to President Obama because I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes. He wears a lot of hats and genuinely cares about Americans and our condition oh heck people in general. I suppose you need to read his books to understand really what I am saying here.

Just because he is president doesn’t mean that he has carte blanche there are checks and balances. It is easy to be negative but I choose to look at things realistically and see what positive there is in tribulations and trials.

There it is HOPE!

More for the Small Guy

Weekly Address 7-24-09

President Obama has stated in this weeks address that we are closer than ever in passing the Health Reform Bill that is before the Senate.  It has  been a long time coming says the President.  The government agencies and legislative branch has been working hard to bring forth a new light in health care.

After coming from a short trip to Ohio to visit the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and speak at a town hall meeting in Shaker Heights, OH one can definitely notice that he is persistent in getting Americans involved in the process. Urging us to contact and stay on our governmental representatives about this bill.

He wants us to send him our questions and he and his staff  will answer as many as they can this week.   It has taken months he urges to move carefully, and methodically.

One thing we have know and have grown to know more about him is of his concern for humanity. He feels the  damaged being done right now health to families he is  concerned about hard working adults to get the care they need when they need and the small biz owner, about children and grandchildren saddled with deficits.

He knows and tells us it is not a political game and can’t keep waiting we owe it to them/you/me/us to finally get it done and get it done this year.

I tried to go to this event on Thursday but to no avail tickets weren’t forwarded. I know that he will be back he has at least 3 more years.  It seemed that he was well received and that he was able to push forward with the urgency of the bill. He is ready to go all that is left is the passing of the bill.

Yes there will be things in it that cost and we don’t all like. I say get it going we can amend and tweak along the way. Sitting still serves no purpose but cause more harm.

Take a listen to the Town Hall this past Thursday at Shaker Heights High School

No To Status Quo!! Weekly Address 7-17-09

No To Status Quo!! Weekly Address 7-17-09

President Obama is urging us to stay the course with health reform. The status quo with health reform is not working.  Talking is old and we need change now he is siting.

I agree that something needs to be done and it’s going to be big and over a long period of time. It didn’t take us a short period to get into this and it is going to take a long period for you to get to a new ground with health care.

I am sure there are all sorts of changes being proposed and some will make it through and others will not but we must do something to change the course of this river.

There are going to be opponents for everything in life that is a given but what we need to be mindful of is what is the outcome and how is it going to help or hurt.   The simple fact is that too many Americans have no health insurance our nation’s obesity percentage goes up at least 15% over the past years.

We are not a healthy nation, we can not build, educate or move to high social-planes if our health is not well.  President Obama promises to veto any health reform bill that will increase our deficient.

A few things I found interesting about this weekly address.

1.  Some opponents think this health reform is a plot for socialized medicine or government health care. The president stated and feels that government shouldn’t run  our health insurance plans and he is strongly against insurance companies having free rein to do whatever they want. There is a middle point here and that is the American people it is about us and for us and we must let our voices be heard.

2.  An Insurance Exchange this is interesting….. A one stop marketing place where we can compare benefits, cost and track variety of insurance plans as well as accountability information. Included also is a public option to increase competition with insurance to keep them honest. Now don’t you just love that one putting them (health insurance companies) on the chopping block, lol!

I was glad to hear that the AMA (American Medical Association) and the ANA (American Nurses Association) has supported and backed this health care reform policy.

We can’t just sit by and do nothing anymore time for action, taking new steps to the right, left, up or down we need to step it up to help us become a healthier nation.

Weekly Address 7-11-09

A few things were illuminated to me here. Mostly was the update  President Obama gave about the Recovery Act and it’s main purpose and the unemployment takes a longer time recover than other areas, interesting.

Creating and saving jobs was something that he is quite proud that he has been able to help with as President.  Keeping us working and making things to compete globally in a world market to make things again and be a viable part of the world is something that he takes great pride in.  I can see it in his eyes.

Even though he has still warned us that this Act was not designed to be a fix all in 4 months it’s going to take 2 plus years and that it is a boost to the economy and stop the free fall  not to restore the economy to it’s full help.

The government is helping but it is ultimately up to us to continue and hold accountable those that have destroyed and are still trying to destroy our American way of life.
