The Silence is Broken

The Silence is Broken.

It just amazes me with all the spinning going on about of all things President Obama’s silence in the matter.

I knew what he was doing and he did mandate immediately while on vacation to the Director of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, to increase all security measures on air transportation. He also cut his vacation short to address this important issue.

I knew what he was doing gathering information and planning his strategy to be able to put in place a plan that could be executed immediately beyond what he had already mandated. We as were part of his strategy to let us know what is going on. Remember transparency? This is something that you need to act on quickly with great deliberation of thought a plan of action. Not in a panic and all willly-nilly. When you panic you don’t think straight. He is just at concerned as we all are about this.

I can just imagine when he received the information that it took everything for him to be calm. I know he asked the question that we all have been asking, “How could a man from anywhere get on a plan that is on our al-Qaida terrorist list not be on the “no-fly” list. I am sure he also asked why is there a no fly list separate from the al-Qaida list? Oh good grief. Dangerous is dangerous and why are we separating different types of danger when it smells of al-Qaida from experience we know it is all bad take no chances.

Look we are targeted and at war just as President Obama stated in this video. We have to make sure that what we do with security can be executed and heightened on all fronts. Communication is key. President Obama speaks to his accountability as well as our governmental intelligence pertaining to this issue.  So let the man do his job again I say back off you nay saying spinners so that he can do what is needed to be done.

He found out why it happened and is putting  stricter measurements in place so get ready when you fly. Screenings are going to be tougher and so are the delays.

Even though he stated that he is not interested in the blame but he did find fault here and I know some heads are going to roll. What really gets me is that when our past President Bush was told about the 911 incident he sat still in his chair in the front of an elementary class and continued to just sit there, nothing was halted he didn’t cut anything short just sat there.

Did you hear any of that spinning going on about how fast he reacted to that terrorist attack? I didn’t hear anything about his response time.  So please step back again nay saying spinners if that is all you can talk about is President Obama’s response time then I am glad you are not on the Homeland Security Board I could imagine what your focus would be.

Okay off my soap box now.

The Prime Directive…Live Long and Prosper

The Prime Directive

Yes I am a Star Trek fan but this post is not about that type of prime directive. Where there can be no interference with the internal development of pre-warp civilizations (civilizations where the technology for interstellar spaceflight has not been developed). The directive has evolved to include purposeful efforts to improve or change in any way the natural course of such a society, even if that change is well-intentioned and kept completely secret.

The Star Fleet Federation takes an oath to do no harm or interfere with other species. The understanding that I am addressing with the Prime Directive was present in the underlying tone of President Obama’s announcement last night about sending more troops to Afghanistan.

A friend of mine today is visiting his son who is being deployed to Iraq. Our government wants to send 80,000 more but at present we are sending 40,000 my friend’s son is one of the 40,000.  I was told that the young man is getting cold feet. Yeah, I would too going to a foreign country with a gun!

He Won It!!

Wow!! Our President has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today! What an accomplishment and how exciting for him. Despite all the naysayers, and negative comments, thoughts, pictures, videos that are out there about his policies  this could of not had been a better time.  It shows you that when you stay focused on your goals to make the world a better place someone takes notice and says thanks for helping us with this feat.

I am quite proud of him and glad that he is recognized as a peacemaker.  Yes some think it’s a joke which is quite sad to say the least but it is true. Everyone has an opinion one way or another but someone has recognized what he is doing and though we don’t see the behind the scenes all the time some on acknowledging that work for world peace is being done.

I am proud to know that he is the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Prize for Peace — President Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906, President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 to receive such an honor.

I say keep your focus Mr. President and do the best you can with whatever resources you have available to you in the arena of check and balances.

Accolades, accolades, accolades.

“Who turned off the lights, guys?”

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

A jokingly President Obama stated,”Who turned off the lights, guys?”  Someone accidentally flipped the light switch off to a room where President Obama was entering for a meeting held for the Summit of the America’s today in PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad.

Take a listen to this video when President Obama was running for the democratic seat for Presidency. Is he following suit?

I just laughed as I read this from the Associated Press release about and hr ago.  Seems that our President and Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez have a civil introduction and interaction. The Venezuela president gave President Obama a book called ” The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent” by Eduardo Galeano, which chronicles U.S. and European economic and political interference in the region.

This same book that President Chavez once threw at past president G. W. Bush  was given, handed to President Obama. There seemed to be a different level of respect for President Obama in that Chavez feels that talks at the Summit of the America’s will be open,  intelligent and promising under new US leadership as opposed to the past leadership.

President Obama with his humorous cantor commented that he thought the book was a book that Chavez’s  wrote and President Obama was going to give Chavez a book that he wrote. It is good to see this mood among during a controversial time of tensions all over the world.

Realizing that Obama wants to start a new with Cuban and foreign relations I am sure that some sore issues will be discussed and even if nothing comes out of them I feel the open forum to start talks is what is important for all to heal and move forward. Sure there will be issues that we don’t agree on but the ability to be able to discuss issues in the market place of ideas is what get change to progress forward.

Barack told the participants of the Summit of Americas, “I have a lot to learn and I’m very much looking forward to listening.”

Friday, in President’s Obama opening speech to the 34-nations gathering at the Summit he promised a new agenda for the Americas, as well as a new style.

Barack stated, “We have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms,” “But I pledge to you that we seek an equal partnership. There is no senior partner and junior partner in our relations.”

Loud applause followed.  But perhaps the biggest applause line was his call for a fresh start in relations between Washington and Havana.  Although I feel that Barack feels that there is at least an opening towards U.S. Havana relations. We all need to keep open minds there are different cultures and old ways of thinking that will  play into this new book.

The attentive public is watching.
