Talk about surprise, surprise, surprise!
Our President has been out of the country for about a week on his first stint of abroad travels including Britain, France, Germany and the Czech Republic.
Our President was suppose to come home today but decided to fly in unannounced into dangerous war zone territory.The decision was between Afghanistan and Turkey and considering the recent and upcoming Iraqi elections his aides felt it would be better for him to go to Iraq. Less trouble I suppose. So, I ask myself why?
Will Robinson and the Robot
Baghdad? What gives Prez? I know you love Air Force One but , “Danger, Will Robinson, danger!” Keeping an open mind. There was a car bombing in a Shiite village of Baghdad just before he arrived.
Although his aides said there is low violence in Iraq, am I missing something here? True there is no safe haven but c’mon known danger is known danger.
I get it he wanted to see the troops stationed at Camp Victory in Iraq and give them hope that they are coming home as well as letting the Iraqi’s know the time has come for them to take over their own country.
He saluted them and thanked them for their brilliant performances under enormous strain. We have no idea what those men and women go through for our liberties until we are in their shoes. Standing in salute with our President even if you think this was a crazy move, I must take the stand and say go for it Barack! I don’t care either they have put themselves in harms way and death defying conditions numerous times it is the least I can do.
But the words and the actual physical presence of the President I am sure made some feel like their country is still behind them or should I say besides them.
I salute this wholeheartedly but what about the other additional troops of 21,000 being sent to Afghanistan? I know that Afghanistan was one of two ports in the storm but maybe a conference satellite from Air force One would have been a good measure to show a sense of concern for those troops and the ones to come.
That might be coming one never knows with Barack he might just surprise those troops as well.
Looking forward to his safe arrival home.
