Today President Obama announced a new initiative for volunteerism across America. That is why today the President is announcing United We Serve — a call to action for all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America, one community at a time. Continuously he has asked Americans for help in rebuild our nation to solidarity again.

Today he launches Serve.gov

He is asking every American young, old, adult and child to volunteer this summer to help our country jump start the healing and continue the fight for a better nation.

Starting June 22, 2009 – Sept 11, 2009 is the time frame of us to help out in someway shape fashion or form. Get out and help someone. Volunteer for a few hours in one or more of the categories that have been outlined by President Obama.

I think this is a great idea not only can you volunteer your organization/project on the site but you can also find opportunities to volunteer if you like.

The countdown is 4 Days and I hope the you get involved in some way to help us as a nation move toward a positive betterment for all.

Hope on the rise

Hope is on the rise for Americans pertaining to our government. It’s funny yesterday I said to myself it’s time that I blogged about what the American people are saying so far about the state of our country. I as combed over the internet news what did I see but the Associated Press news article about our President and how Americans feel more optimistic about the state of our country.

Full article here

The Associated Press in collaboration with GfK Roper Public Affairs and Media have conducted a poll with a sampling error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, have conducted a poll from April 16-20th via telephone interviews. These polls were conducted via landlines and cell phones with 1,000 adults nationwide.

President Barack Obama

It seems based on the poll that since President Obama has taken office and started to reveal his plans for regaining our strength in this country and world, Americans have begun to see that glimmer of hope that his campaign continuously addressed.

Although we are not out of the woods by far, Americans do realize that it will take more than a year to get us back on a solvent road. There has been much that our government has done to position itself in a place where old barriers, new accountability,  policies, spending etc has been shown to the American public.

It is much too early to decide if these well discussed and thought out plans, mandates, polices, programs and statues will prove effective results.  The point is that if you believe it is true and if it appears to be true , then it is true.

Americans believe that there is hope for our country and by working together to solve these issues we will conquer and rise again to the once powerful staunch nation we were of years past.

This thread of hopefully mantra is stipulated throughout President Obama’s second book,  “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.”

Americans feel we are moving forward and as part of the attentive public I will continue to watch, research and measure these new governmental movements before saying yea or nay. I am hopefully that when we as Americans put our minds to a task it will be thought out, executed and measured so that it will benefit all Americans in one shape fashion or form.

We can only but keep hope alive and strive for higher and better heights like the American Bald Eagle.

I am an AMERICAN and gosh darn proud of it!!

A jokingly President Obama stated,”Who turned off the lights, guys?”  Someone accidentally flipped the light switch off to a room where President Obama was entering for a meeting held for the Summit of the America’s today in PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad.

Take a listen to this video when President Obama was running for the democratic seat for Presidency. Is he following suit?

I just laughed as I read this from the Associated Press release about and hr ago.  Seems that our President and Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez have a civil introduction and interaction. The Venezuela president gave President Obama a book called ” The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent” by Eduardo Galeano, which chronicles U.S. and European economic and political interference in the region.

This same book that President Chavez once threw at past president G. W. Bush  was given, handed to President Obama. There seemed to be a different level of respect for President Obama in that Chavez feels that talks at the Summit of the America’s will be open,  intelligent and promising under new US leadership as opposed to the past leadership.

President Obama with his humorous cantor commented that he thought the book was a book that Chavez’s  wrote and President Obama was going to give Chavez a book that he wrote. It is good to see this mood among during a controversial time of tensions all over the world.

Realizing that Obama wants to start a new with Cuban and foreign relations I am sure that some sore issues will be discussed and even if nothing comes out of them I feel the open forum to start talks is what is important for all to heal and move forward. Sure there will be issues that we don’t agree on but the ability to be able to discuss issues in the market place of ideas is what get change to progress forward.

Barack told the participants of the Summit of Americas, “I have a lot to learn and I’m very much looking forward to listening.”

Friday, in President’s Obama opening speech to the 34-nations gathering at the Summit he promised a new agenda for the Americas, as well as a new style.

Barack stated, “We have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms,” “But I pledge to you that we seek an equal partnership. There is no senior partner and junior partner in our relations.”

Loud applause followed.  But perhaps the biggest applause line was his call for a fresh start in relations between Washington and Havana.  Although I feel that Barack feels that there is at least an opening towards U.S. Havana relations. We all need to keep open minds there are different cultures and old ways of thinking that will  play into this new book.

The attentive public is watching.
