Yesterday Oct 13th marks a monumental time for the Obama administration, where the fifth and final committee to view the Bill has been approved.
The Financial Committee has passed the bill by a 14-9 vote it now moves to the Senate and House where there is still needed a vote to pass the final versions of legislation, before the process can go to conference committee, and onto another vote in both houses.  The Finance Committee’s action today represents an enormous and critical step forward.
President Obama was prideful of this moment however he acknowledges that there is still much to go and persistence is needed.
No matter what your thoughts are about this Bill there is one thing for sure there are many people working not just giving lip service to make our health care something better. Could this have been the real idea behind this new administration to get us thinking and moving more ahead with a resolution in writing and accountability towards health care? Something to think about huh?
New updates about those Republican figures that have just recently over the weeks have joined in support of the Health Insurance Reform.
As the week narrows down in the Senate before the vote more are coming forward to make process for the American people.
There are some areas of the reform that I don’t like but I have all the confidence in the world that if we don’t like something it will be heard and altered so that all Americans will benefit. We can change our well being excuse the pun.
We are not trying to amend the Constitution which is very very difficult act, laws, and bills can be changed, amended, obliterated. I am not saying that Health Care isn’t as important as the Constitution but what I am saying is that the flexibility of the instrument an act, bill or law is easier to change.
I know this is not going to solve all problems but it is a start to being able to address those hot buttons and get things moving so that we can move to those other areas where we need to make changes. President Obama knows this as well but we have to crawl before we walk and run. We have not been crawling we have been doing nothing which is a form of politics in itself.
Some of my readers have emailed me to say that they feel this is one of the last few optimistic blogs about President Obama around with all the Barack-bashing going on. I want to thank you all for that but know that this blog venture was about learning about our government and being attentive to what policies our government is trying to do to make good on the statements during his campaign. The best way we can make decisions is to be informed and make our own decisions. We can agree to disagree and keep open minds to the market place of ideas.
There is a lot going on in American that is wrong all you have to do is look outside your door and you will see it. Everything with our Presides,t as has been with Presidents before ,is not going to be as we all like it.
No one can please all but if it helps us in some way to pick ourselves out of what has happened to this country over the past decade I say let’s do it and stop the nonsense.
Yes my hat goes off to President Obama because I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes. He wears a lot of hats and genuinely cares about Americans and our condition oh heck people in general. I suppose you need to read his books to understand really what I am saying here.
Just because he is president doesn’t mean that he has carte blanche there are checks and balances. It is easy to be negative but I choose to look at things realistically and see what positive there is in tribulations and trials.
Wow!! Our President has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today! What an accomplishment and how exciting for him. Despite all the naysayers, and negative comments, thoughts, pictures, videos that are out there about his policies this could of not had been a better time. It shows you that when you stay focused on your goals to make the world a better place someone takes notice and says thanks for helping us with this feat.
I am quite proud of him and glad that he is recognized as a peacemaker. Yes some think it’s a joke which is quite sad to say the least but it is true. Everyone has an opinion one way or another but someone has recognized what he is doing and though we don’t see the behind the scenes all the time some on acknowledging that work for world peace is being done.
I am proud to know that he is the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Prize for Peace — President Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906, President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 to receive such an honor.
I say keep your focus Mr. President and do the best you can with whatever resources you have available to you in the arena of check and balances.
From what I understand he lived his last year, after being diagnosed with brain cancer, to the fullest. That is how I want to go out with great memories and living life to the fullest. President Obama takes a few moments to remember him yesterday from Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark, Massachusetts in this video below. I couldn’t of said it better my sentiments exactly.
Among all the scandals this is one senator that I really felt connected with the people and was a fighter for the people even when it was so popular to do so. He will be missed just as his brother former President John Kennedy.
Deepest sympathies to the Kennedy family and may they remember the great and historical times that Ted was able to contribute to this country.
The third woman Justice and first Hispanic Justice for the highest court in America.
The President stated, “It’s a promise that, whether you’re a mighty corporation or an ordinary American, you will receive a full and fair hearing. And in the end, the outcome of your case will be determined by nothing more or less than the strength of your argument and the dictates of the law.”
“These core American ideals — justice, equality, and opportunity — are the very ideals that have made Judge Sotomayor’s own uniquely American journey possible.”
No matter what you may think about her judicial experience and statements in the past the deed has been done. We are left to now wipe the slate clean and see just how she has a junior court member will proceed in this lifetime duty to serve our country.
