Today President Obama celebrates his 49th birthday! I am sure he has a full agenda of activities but mostly I pray that he gets rest. It’s a difficult task to run the free world. We may not agree with all that is being done but what I mostly appreciate is that work is being done to change and better the American people. We are troopers til the end and although we have our differences this is what strengthens our bonds. This is what it means to be an American , Fortitude magnanimous fortitude.
August 4th, 2010 is a historical day in Kenyan history. As many Kenyans march to the polls to vote for the referendums of the Kenyan Constitution. The “YES” and “NO” campaigns are strongly campaigning to get their points across to the Kenyan people about passing the referendums of the Kenyan Constitution. This is an historical time for the Kenyan people.
As we all well know as Americans how important it is for our human rights to be protected from obliteration to injustice. As I think about what the Kenyan people are going through it reminds me of our time in history when the forefathers were faced with the same plight, the rights of the people. It is also so befitting that President Obama’s birthday is the day that Kenyans will be going to the polls to vote for their countries governing law. Being that he is of Kenyan decent, I am sure he will also be watching as he has stated his support verbally and monetarily to help with the passing of such a historical document in Kenyan history.
Join with me me to wish our President Happy Birthday and watch the polls as the Kenyan people march in to liberation.
A BARACK VIEW! Well it’s official President Barack Obama is scheduled to appear on “The View” this Thursday July 29th, 2010. His second appearance on “The View” was back when he was a US Senator running for the office of the President…
Well it’s been awhile and this just had me going in a few directions. First I friend of mine told me the other day about the new overdraft law that Congress passed and will be effective July 1. 2010 called the Overdraft Fee Notification
H.R. 1487 . There has been much debate over this but for the most part consumers are happy that banks will no longer be allowed to charge overdraft fees on ATM transactions or debit card purchases that cause a checking account to go into the negative. This law will NOT cover checks however. Please keep this in mind. Should you want overdraft protection you must opt-in to tell the bank to pay the transaction.
My question is depending on the bank how are they going to handle this? I am sure they will be trying every method in the book to stock up on these charges before this legislation takes place in July. But once the new regulation comes to fruition on August 15, this practice will be against the rules unless you “opt in” by authorizing your bank to continue automatically authorizing these transactions and charging you the overdraft fee. HMMMM!
Coupled with that is the new Wall Street Reform Bill to hold banks accountable not punish them. I am a little mixed for words here. I thought when holding someone accountable meant to make sure right is done and if not then there will be consequences. Well once it passes Congress will iron out the punishment…ooops penalties.
