The Silence is Broken.

It just amazes me with all the spinning going on about of all things President Obama’s silence in the matter.

I knew what he was doing and he did mandate immediately while on vacation to the Director of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, to increase all security measures on air transportation. He also cut his vacation short to address this important issue.

I knew what he was doing gathering information and planning his strategy to be able to put in place a plan that could be executed immediately beyond what he had already mandated. We as were part of his strategy to let us know what is going on. Remember transparency? This is something that you need to act on quickly with great deliberation of thought a plan of action. Not in a panic and all willly-nilly. When you panic you don’t think straight. He is just at concerned as we all are about this.

I can just imagine when he received the information that it took everything for him to be calm. I know he asked the question that we all have been asking, “How could a man from anywhere get on a plan that is on our al-Qaida terrorist list not be on the “no-fly” list. I am sure he also asked why is there a no fly list separate from the al-Qaida list? Oh good grief. Dangerous is dangerous and why are we separating different types of danger when it smells of al-Qaida from experience we know it is all bad take no chances.

Look we are targeted and at war just as President Obama stated in this video. We have to make sure that what we do with security can be executed and heightened on all fronts. Communication is key. President Obama speaks to his accountability as well as our governmental intelligence pertaining to this issue.  So let the man do his job again I say back off you nay saying spinners so that he can do what is needed to be done.

He found out why it happened and is putting  stricter measurements in place so get ready when you fly. Screenings are going to be tougher and so are the delays.

Even though he stated that he is not interested in the blame but he did find fault here and I know some heads are going to roll. What really gets me is that when our past President Bush was told about the 911 incident he sat still in his chair in the front of an elementary class and continued to just sit there, nothing was halted he didn’t cut anything short just sat there.

Did you hear any of that spinning going on about how fast he reacted to that terrorist attack? I didn’t hear anything about his response time.  So please step back again nay saying spinners if that is all you can talk about is President Obama’s response time then I am glad you are not on the Homeland Security Board I could imagine what your focus would be.

Okay off my soap box now.

The Prime Directive

Yes I am a Star Trek fan but this post is not about that type of prime directive. Where there can be no interference with the internal development of pre-warp civilizations (civilizations where the technology for interstellar spaceflight has not been developed). The directive has evolved to include purposeful efforts to improve or change in any way the natural course of such a society, even if that change is well-intentioned and kept completely secret.

The Star Fleet Federation takes an oath to do no harm or interfere with other species. The understanding that I am addressing with the Prime Directive was present in the underlying tone of President Obama’s announcement last night about sending more troops to Afghanistan.

He Won It!!

Wow!! Our President has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today! What an accomplishment and how exciting for him. Despite all the naysayers, and negative comments, thoughts, pictures, videos that are out there about his policies  this could of not had been a better time.  It shows you that when you stay focused on your goals to make the world a better place someone takes notice and says thanks for helping us with this feat.

I am quite proud of him and glad that he is recognized as a peacemaker.  Yes some think it’s a joke which is quite sad to say the least but it is true. Everyone has an opinion one way or another but someone has recognized what he is doing and though we don’t see the behind the scenes all the time some on acknowledging that work for world peace is being done.

I am proud to know that he is the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Prize for Peace — President Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906, President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 to receive such an honor.

I say keep your focus Mr. President and do the best you can with whatever resources you have available to you in the arena of check and balances.

Accolades, accolades, accolades.

The weekly address to the American people from President Barack Obama has two announcements that will be followed by the signing of two pieces of legislation soon to be signed.

The President has stated in this address that we need to speed up economic recovery a new foundation based on  good jobs, sound investments and good good workers.

Clean energy and health care are two areas that he is attacking now.

New energy initiatives for a better world and stop dependency on foreign oil. by doing this we can create new jobs for Americans and develop the tools for the new global economy energy.

President Obama has found that those parties pertaining to health care and clean energy are beginning to eagerly show a willingness to come around common goals with different points of view.

President Barack has met with insurance drug companies, Doctors,  labor unions to talk about and take necessary step to reduce health care cost. Recognizing we must act.  Health reform is a must and the House of Representatives is currently working to pass a bill by end of this term.

Barack has always felt it is better to talk rather than remain silent and  reach over the divide that shake a fist at it. Too long the way Washington has done this and  a new foundation is being laid. Interest will not always align, there are more difficult days to come  but he is confident on the governments start to combat all we are facing.

“I’m, gearing up for battle,” states President Obama. He is getting ready to have talks with lenders pertaining to education funds for American students. As a parent with a kid going to college this fall this is a battle that I will be watching closely.

President Obama stated that college costs have doubled for private colleges and tripled for public colleges this has happened ten times the rate of family income increases. I remember when I was in college and President Regan cost college aid so substantially that students were in the financial aid office crying their eyes out literally and screaming , “No you can’t take my financial aid from me, please no!” It was on of the most horrid thing I ever saw.
Students writhing on the floor in sheer distress and despair of the possibility of not being able to finish college to procure their degrees. I was also concerned knowing that I was receiving government financial aid to college. Alias it was not the end of the world for some and being a out of the box thinker proved to find solutions but some were not so lucky and had to leave college.

Enters Barack, ready to fight for that college student and anyone who wants to further themselves in formal education or advanced training/certification. As he is urging all Americans to at least to commit to 1 year of formal education or vocational training/certification so that America can once be the educational force it once was.

He sited that these college increases threatens  to widen the gap between the haves an have nots, we need to be the most competitive workforce in the world.

He is proposing:

$2500 annual tax credit o American this will cover  most 2yrs college tuition costs.
Pell grants reform, that currently, covers less than half  of college tuition than it did a few decades ago.

  • $500 currently adding this year to student’s Pell grant award and $5550 the maximum amount a student can be awarded raising next year. I have seen this first hand for my soon to be college student.

  • The determining of grants and loans will have their value accessed differently from the way they are now. Instead of on annual rate where the increase is mostly looming in the rafters  he is proposing a fixed rate above inflation to cover raising cost of  current and future expenses.
  • 2.5 billion dollar  innovative to programs that promote and have productive measurable positive results for increasing graduation rates and enrollment such as the  IBest Program in Washington.

Already I have seen this increase in my kids financial aid packet from the colleges he has applied to and I applaud this addendum to the President’s  educational reform.  Coupled with early education reforms and government funding, can we forge ahead to higher educational standards to be the once thought of well educated country in the world.

We can all do our part in fulfilling President Barack’s request of everyone that is capable and wanting to procure at least 1 year of formal education at a college, university or specialized training certification program.

We can do it we are Americans!
